Q:
What is Parent CONNECT?

A:
Parent CONNECT software is a convenient home-to-school collaboration tool that allows parents/guardians to keep track of their childrens' academic progress online via an easy-to-use web site. Parents/guardians may visit the password-protected site to view school program announcements as well as their students' schedules, grades, assignments, daily and period attendance, course history, and health/immunization data.
Parents/guardians can also easily communicate with teachers via e-mail or receive automatic e-mail notification of unexcused absences, missing assignments, or failing grades. They can view their child's student information through the Parent CONNECT web site after they have registered with the school and received a user ID and password. To maintain the integrity of student data, the Parent CONNECT application is a "read-only" system.
 
Q:
Who is eligible to use Parent CONNECT?
A:
All parents/guardians that have legal rights to view their childrens' school records. Students are NOT allowed to register themselves to access this site.
 
Q:
How do I use Parent CONNECT?
A:
 ** You will be required to show a picture ID for verification.
 If you have questions regarding this procedure or anything about Parent CONNECT, please call Kate Brostrom at 664-8241, Ext. 279 at the District Office.
Step #1: 
Follow directions below to register yourself in Parent CONNECT:
- Open Explorer, Netscape or AOL Internet Browser.
- Type http://pcxp.cdaschools.org and hit the Enter key on keyboard.
- Click "register".
- Click "OK" to get past any security messages.
- Fill out both Parent Information Student Information parts of form. It is important to list ALL of your student's, regardless of education level in the Coeur d' Alene School District on this form.

- Click "submit".
*** Within 48 hours, you should be able to go to your oldest child's school to pick up your User ID and Password for the initial login. If you have any problems with password functionality, call 664-8241, Ext. 236 and we will be happy to assist you.

Step #2: Directions for initial login in Parent CONNECT:
- Open Explorer, Netscape or AOL Internet Browser.
- Type http://pcxp.cdaschools.org
- Click "login".
- Click "OK" to get past any security messages.
- Type in User ID and password (which you picked up at your child’s school).
- Click "login".
- Click "yes" past next window.
- You will then be able to view your child's information.
** It is now IMPORTANT for you to change your password:
- Click on "settings" tab in top right corner of screen.
- Type in a new password (must be at least 6 characters).
- Confirm it by typing in new password again.
- Under Alert Notifications check "wanted" boxes.
- Click on "apply". It should say "your changes have been applied" in the bar above the submit button.
You are now ready to explore your child's records! Hit the Back button in your browser a few times until you get to the screen which shows your child's name.
 
Q:
What do I do if I lose my password?
A:
Please call Kate Brostrom at 664-8241 ext 279. After verifying you identity, she will be able assist you with your current password. We prefer not to email passwords unless there is no other way.
 
Q:
Can more than one parent/guardian have access to a child's record?
A:
Yes. Each parent/guardian can register individually and will receive his/her own unique password. Parents must have legal rights to view their child's school records.
 
Q:
What do I do if I feel that the Parent CONNECT information is incorrect?
A:
Contact your child's school administration.
 
Q:
Can I reach Parent CONNECT from any computer?
A:
Yes. All you need is Internet access to view the Parent CONNECT website.
 
Q:
What are the minimum computer requirements needed to use Parent CONNECT?
A:
You will need an Internet Provider. The system works best on the following internet browsers:
Internet Explorer 5.0 or greater, AOL 5.0 or greater, or Netscape 4.7 or greater.
Either PC or MAC is fine.
 
Q:
What if I do not have a computer in my home?
A:
You can use a computer from anywhere with Internet access to view the Parent CONNECT website. For example the public library, your local senior center (if you are a senior citizen), Internet cafes, or any computer that has Internet access.
 
Q:
How do I add a second, third... child to my current Parent CONNECT access?
A:
As long as you have legal rights to see that child's records, you may call your child's school between 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. to make that request.
 
Q:
What do I do if I get "locked" out of my Parent CONNECT account?
A:
As a security measure, if you have three failed attempts at inputting your user name and password the system will lock you out from accessing your account. This protects you from having someone sit down and continually try to guess your password. The system will automatically reset itself within 24 hours. There is NO need to contact anyone about this problem.
The reason this lock out occurred is that you have forgotten your password, follow the directions below:
You must go to the District Administration Building at 311 N. 10th Street, Coeur d' Alene, and show your picture ID. Then a hard copy of your password will be provided to you. Please call ahead at 664-8241, Ext. 279 so that we may have that information waiting for you. NO passwords will be given out over the phone.

What if I still have problems accessing my Parent CONNECT info?
A:
Call Tom Hobson at 664-8241, Ext. 236 at the District Administration Building at 311 N. 10th Street, Coeur d' Alene, between 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. or email Tom at
thobson@cdaschools.org.
 
Q:
I do not live in Kootenai County. Can I still gain access to my child's information on Parent CONNECT?
A:
Yes, under a few conditions. First, you must be registered at the school as the legal guardian. Then you must download the following request form, have it notarized and mail it back to the District Office. Your demographic information will be entered for you and then you will be notified of your user id and password.
