The Coeur d'Alene School District offers a variety of online learning opportunities for our students ranging from credit recovery to supplemental instruction to advanced placement coursework. To discuss how online learning may be part of your education, please contact our school counseling office.
Who Can Participate
Any student in middle school or high school has the ability to take a course through PLATO Learning in order to grow academically, receive additional practice on a particular subject or recoup lost credits. Please use the application located in the Locker on this page to begin the process.
What is PLATO Learning?
These web-based courses offer the highest-quality educational content, resources and assessments customized to help meet students' individual needs and to help students reach their full potential. PLATO courses are delivered over the Internet and are available anytime, anywhere.
What are the benefits of PLATO Learning courses?
- Access to more than 2,000 hours of basic to advanced-level instruction in reading, writing, math, science and life and work skills. This ready-made instructional courseware extends the school day into the home & community.

How does it work?
Your child's teacher, proctor or administrator will assign assignments: lessons, tests or quizzes, tasks to complete, etc., in your student's assignment box. Your child will complete the assignment online and receive instant feedback on how they have performed on that task.
All of your child’s progress data are automatically uploaded to the teacher who can then use this information to help your child improve in that subject area.
Is the service safe and secure?

The on-line mail system within the PLATO course is closed and password protected so only registered users can participate. Every user is identified, so no anonymous messages can be posted.
