Regular Special Meeting/Workshop June 26, 2008

Minutes

At 5:05 p.m. Chair Edie Brooks called the meeting to order. Trustees Vern Newby, Sid Fredrickson and Diane Zipperer were also present. Trustee Christie Wood was absent.

Lighthouse Training Workshop/Session 4 - Wanda Quinn, ISBA Foundation Executive Director spoke about the goal(s) of this session:

1. The role of the Board
2. What it takes to improve student achievement
3. The singular power of having one goal

Discussions about goal setting, workplace barriers, high expectations, using research, the role of leaders and going beyond test scores took place. Current ISAT test scores/data was analyzed and as a result, literacy and math were identified as needs. Our focus will be based on data and student needs.
