Minutes of May 16, 2006 Special Meeting
3:30 PM Coeur d'Alene School District Board Room

MINUTES

At 3:40 PM, Chair Wanda Quinn called the meeting to order. Trustees Vern Newby and Diane Zipperer were also present; Trustees Fredrickson and Wood were absent.

Motion by Mrs. Zipperer, second by Mr. Newby for Executive Session: Idaho Code 67-2345, Subsection (b) to consider the evaluation, dismissal or disciplining of, or to hear complaints or charges brought against a public officer, employee, staff member or individual agent or public school student: roll call vote; Quinn, Newby, Zipperer, each “yes”.

Possible Action Resulting From Executive Session - At 4:13 PM, the meeting returned to open session. Motion by Mrs. Zipperer, second by Mr. Newby to allow Student A to return to school immediately and have a behavioral contract developed by the administration, passed 3-0.

Motion by Mr. Newby, second by Mrs. Zipperer for Executive Session: Idaho Code 67-2345, Subsection (b) to consider the evaluation, dismissal or disciplining of, or to hear complaints or charges brought against a public officer, employee, staff member or individual agent or public school student: roll call vote; Quinn, Newby, Zipperer, each “yes”.

Possible Action Resulting From Executive Session - At 4:55 PM, the meeting returned to open session. Motion by Mrs. Zipperer, second by Mr. Newby to expel Student B for the remainder of the semester, allow an administrative evaluation of needs for credits, allow summer school to redeem credits, and return in the fall under a behavior contract developed by the administration, passed 3-0.

Motion by Mr. Newby, second by Mrs. Zipperer for Executive Session: Idaho Code 67-2345, Subsection (b) to consider the evaluation, dismissal or disciplining of, or to hear complaints or charges brought against a public officer, employee, staff member or individual agent or public school student: roll call vote; Quinn, Newby, Zipperer, each “yes”.

Possible Action Resulting From Executive Session – At 5:40 PM, the meeting returned to open session. Motion by Mr. Newby, second by Mrs. Zipperer to expel Student C for the remainder of the semester, to allow her to return to summer school and to school in the fall, both on a behavior contract to be developed by the administration. In addition, the Board agreed that any substantive violation would come back to the Board for a discipline hearing, passed 3-0.

At 5:45 PM, the meeting was adjourned.
