Special Meeting/Workshop March 18, 2008

Minutes

At 5:05 p.m. Chair Edie Brooks called the meeting to order. Trustees Vern Newby, Diane Zipperer and Sid Fredrickson were present. Christie Wood was absent.

Lighthouse Training Workshop - Wanda Quinn, ISBA Foundation Executive Director introduced three specific outcomes for this session:
1. Board members will have a broad understanding of the current status of student achievement within the state and district.
2. Board members will be able to identify areas of strength in student achievement, determine trends over time and identify areas of needed improvement in order to set goals and provide support.
3. Board members can articulate what needs to change and what they think is possible for student achievement.
Board members and administrators analyzed test data and discussed their summary observations and conclusion. A date for Session 4 will be scheduled.

Motion by Mr. Newby for Executive Session: Idaho Code 67-2345, Subsection (a) to consider hiring a public officer, employee, staff member or individual agent; (b) to consider the evaluation, dismissal or disciplining of, or to hear complaints or charges brought against a public officer, employee, staff member or individual agent or public school student, second by Mr. Fredrickson. Roll call vote: Brooks, Newby, Fredrickson, Zipperer each “yes”.

The meeting returned to open session and adjourned at 8:18 p.m.

Summary Statement of Executive Session
At 8:10 pm, in accordance with Idaho Code 67-2345, Subsection (c) to conduct deliberations concerning labor negotiations or to acquire an interest in real property which is not owned by a public agency.
