Minutes

At 5:05 p.m. Chair Edie Brooks called the meeting to order. Trustees Vern Newby, Sid Fredrickson and Christie Wood were present.

Lighthouse Training Session – Wanda Quinn, ISBA Foundation Executive Director introduced this as a research project. She provided a brief overview of the training and project. One of the goals is to find out if school boards make a difference with regard to student achievement. Board members and administrators shared information they learned during interviews with families who struggle with special needs i.e. financial, special education, minority, attendance at an alternative school, discipline and attendance issues. Common themes were heard throughout this conversation.

Diane Zipperer arrived at 5:25 p.m.

Discussion ensued regarding the seven goals, reciprocity of accountability and common goals. The next training is scheduled for March 18, 2008.
