There are many opportunities to become involved with your child's school. PTA provides parents an avenue for involvement and service. The following are committees that need help from parent volunteers:
Innisbrook Fundraiser - This is the main PTA fund-raiser of the year. Parent volunteers are needed to help count money and orders when they arrive. Also, help is needed to distribute orders.
Hospitality Committee - Gives support and appreciation to the teachers and staff throughout the year. This is done through gifts, cards, Teacher Appreciation Week, and food at Parent-Teacher Conferences.
Family Fun Night - This is an annual event PTA organizes. It is an evening of fun for the entire family. There is a spaghetti feed, games, raffles, crafts and prizes. Volunteers are needed in a variety of ways, serving food, running game rooms, solicitation for raffle prizes, decorating, set-up and clean-up.
Publicity -
This committee helps keep parents updated about PTA
activities through the newsletter, bulletin board and web-site at
www.cdaschools.org
Welcoming Committee - PTA provides new students and their families with pertinent information to help make the transition to a new school smooth.
5th Grade Girls' Night Out -
An evening for 5th grade girls and their mothers to get information about hair care, skin care and make-up, nutrition, and fashion. They also watch a short maturation video. Volunteers are needed to help organize and decorate for the event.
5th Grade Boys' Night Out - An event for 5th grade boys and their fathers to enjoy pizza, sporting events and a short maturation video. Volunteers are needed to help organize and run the event.
Run for Fun, Run for Life running program - PTA sponsors a running program for the students to get in shape and prepare for a community road race. The program runs from the end of February through the middle of April. Volunteers oversee the students' progress and prepare rewards for those who participate.
Mini-Grant Committee - Each year PTA helps fund educational projects that teachers implement in class. This committee, using established guidelines, decides how the funds will be allocated.
Scrip - Similar to a gift certificate, Scrip may me purchased, dollar for dollar, at Super 1 Foods on Hayden Ave. When groceries are purchased using Super 1 Scrip at any of their locations, Super 1 generously donated 3% of that grocery bill to Hayden Meadows. Scrip is also available at Triple Play, who donates 5%.
Campbell's Labels/Box Tops for Education -
Our school saves Campbell's Labels for Education. We also save General Mills and Betty Crocker box tops. The funds raised go toward the purchase of playground equipment (balls, etc) for each classroom. It's easy to pitch in. Contact the office to learn which Campbell products are eligible. The labels and box tops can be dropped off at the Campbell's collection bin located by the office.
We truly believe that PTA is a great way to further the educational process by serving the teachers, staff and students at Hayden Meadows. This organization would not be able to function and accomplish all it does without the involvement of dedicated parents. We hope that you will be able to be part of PTA this year.
