Bike/Walk to School week is May 12-16. Sorensen and Fernan are organizing Walking School Buses for the week and Walk/Bike to School Day on Friday, May 16. Lakes Middle School is having bicycle and skateboard safety workshops after school and awarding prizes to students who walk and bike that week. School Plant Facilities Levy and Trustee Election is May 20

Voters will go to the polls May 20 to decide a two-year School Plant Facilities Levy that would finance four projects:

• A new Lakes Middle School on the existing 15th Street site
• A new elementary school to be built in the northwestern section of the district
• The continuation of computer purchases and other technology improvements
• Acquisition of property for future school sites

The largest portion of the levy would be for the new Lakes Middle School.

Also on May 20 election, voters in Zones 4 and 5 will be electing trustees to serve a three-year term on the School Board. The candidates for Zone 4 are Diane Zipperer and Susan C. Francis. The candidates for zone 5 are H. Sid Fredrickson and Kevin J. Mylan.
