I was born in Coeur d’Alene and was a student at Dalton Elementary. After graduating from Coeur d’Alene High School, I received my undergraduate degree in Arizona and then left for South Africa with the Peace Corps to work in elementary schools. This experience, along with a year of team-teaching in an independent school in Seattle, helped me to realize my passion in teaching and education. I moved to Bellingham, Washington to pursue my teaching degree and for two years I taught in the Bellingham School District. In 2005 I accepted a 4th grade position at Dalton. In the summer of 2007 I taught English at a summer camp in Linhai, China. When I returned I had the opportunity to transfer to Fernan Elementary to be a part of the Primary Years Program of the International Baccalaureate. My experiences in and outside of the classroom have taught me what it means to teach. I love working with children and watching them grow as they learn to be strategic readers and writers, cooperative learners and critical thinkers.
