FERNAN'S ART GALLERY
FIRST GRADE
Our motto: "Imagination is more important than knowledge."

~Albert Einstein

At the beginning of the year the First Grade students learned about overlapping and drew a lion with guided instruction.  The students learned to follow simple and more complex patterns and to create their own patterns on sweaters.  They learned to look at a still life to draw.  We practiced with a flower still life like Georgia O'Keefe and a soup can like Andy Warhol!  There was also time to learn to draw PIRATE SHIPS!

This is the mural created at the annual School District 271 All Student Art Show in the spring of 2008. The students drew flowers from a still life setting and then either colored them or painted them!
