Fernan Elementary Counselor
Navigating the " swirling waters of growing up" can be a treacherous journey for some children and a challenge for most. It is upon this idea that the counseling program at Fernan Elementary is formed. School counseling at Fernan is for all children. It is for everyday students with everyday problems.
As the Fernan counselor, I work from a Love and Logic foundation. This allows students to be responsible for their own actions, while being held accountable with huge doses of understanding and empathy. In addition, our PeaceWorks and Talk It Out curriculums are used to help prevent and resolve interpersonal conflicts.
It is my goal to help each child to excel academically, socially and emotionally. In order to achieve this goal, I present counseling units to all of the Fernan classrooms. In addition, small groups and individual appointments with students, and their parents, are a part of my daily life in the Fernan Counseling Office.
Our program is charted to develop the choices that will help to calm those swirling waters and create journeys into healthy, productive lives.
I can be contacted at (208) 664-2659.
