Sally Reis

Dr. Reis recieved her B.A. from Chatham College, her M.S. from Southern Connecticut State College and her Ph.D from the University of Connecticut. She joined the University of Connecticut in 1980.

As befits her credentials in education, Dr. Reis demonstrates an extraordinary commitment to teaching throughout all her work. Students speak of her ability to bring her research, as well as other current professional literature, to her classrooms. Dr. Reis is a student-centered instructor who is not only dedicated to her students well-being, but who also keeps constantly attuned for opportunities that might benefit their professional development. Her publication record is extensive, varied and wholly tied to her teaching, including several books, dozens of chapters and articles, technical reports and videotapes. Dr. Reis has gained international recognition as one of the top five experts in the field of Gifted and Talented Education, and she has put her expertise into practice by directing UConn's Confratuate program, the world's largest gifted education training program. Her numerous grants, awards and followships at UConn and abroad, and her professional consultation work on both state and national levels, only further serve to demonstrate the depth of the commitment which Dr. Reis brings to the UConn community.

Bertie Kingore 

Dr. Bertie Kingore is an international consultant who has worked with students, their teachers, and their parents for over 30 years. Recognized for her humorous and practical presentations, her energetic sessions leave teachers revitalized and eager to implement her shared ideas and learning experiences in their own classrooms. Dr. Kingore and her husband, Richard, are the parents of three gifted sons whose needs and talents fuel her dedication to gifted education.

Dr. Kingore is the author of numerous articles, instructional aids, and 24 books on education. She has received many honors including the Outstanding Alumnus Award from the University of North Texas where she earned her Ph.D. She is a past President of the Texas Association for the Gifted and Talented and was also recognized as the Texas Gifted Educator of the Year.

 

 

Barbara Clark


Barbara Clark is Professor Emeritus, California State University, Los Angeles and the author of the widely used text, Growing up Gifted, soon to be in its seventh edition. She is a past president of the World Council for Gifted and Talented Children, the National Association for Gifted Children, and the California Association for the Gifted. She is a recognized scholar and has presented major addresses and workshops throughout the United States and the world.

Jann Leppien is an associate professor at the University of Great Falls in Great Falls, Montana, where she teaches course work in curriculum and instruction, gifted education, assessment and learning, educational research, and methods in social sciences. Additionally she teaches curriculum courses and thinking skills courses online and in the Three Summers Program at the University of Connecticut. Before joining the faculty at the University of Great Falls, she worked as a research assistant for The National Research Center on the Gifted and Talented (NRC/GT). She has been a classroom teacher, enrichment specialist, and coordinator of a gifted education program in Montana. She is the co-author of, The Multiple Menu Model: A Practical Guide for Developing Differentiated Curriculum, The Parallel Curriculum: A Design to Develop High Potential and Challenge High-Ability Students, The Parallel Curriculum in the Classroom, Books 1 and 2. She conducts workshops for teachers in the areas of differentiated instruction, curriculum design and assessment, thinking skills, and gifted education program development. She serves on the board of the National Association for Gifted Children and the Association for the Education of Gifted Underachieving Students (AEGUS).
