About School PLUS
School PLUS is a reliable, quality before and after school childcare program offered in most elementary schools in our District. We do not provide educational services, however, we provide children with a rich, stimulating environment much different from their regular school day.
Children enjoy an active agenda of developmentally appropriate activities which include arts and crafts, sports, games, special events, quiet low-key and high energy activities. These activities are presented to the children through the use of learning centers. We encourage interests and skills children will carry into adulthood.
Enrollment is open to any Coeur d' Alene School District 271 student in grades kindergarten through 5th grade. We offer childcare on "no school" days and most holidays.
We are a school district program governed by the Board of Trustees. However, we are strictly self supporting through parent fees.
Quality Staff
School PLUS staff members are committed to guiding the growth and learning of children during out-of-school hours. These professionals come to us from varied backgrounds. They have experience as teachers in childcare centers, classroom aides, scout leaders, and leaders of church youth groups.
Staff development is provided through training sessions that cover specialized topics such as child development, organizational skills, safety issues, activity planning, first aid, and legal issues. Before hiring, all staff members receive a criminal background check.
