District Begins Speaking Opportunities to Community Groups about Upcoming M&O Levy
On March 12th the Coeur d’Alene School District will ask voters to consider approving a two-year Maintenance and Operations (M&O) Levy of $12.9M with an additional $1.4M in the first year for the sole purpose of enhancing security and safety at all our school buildings. The current $12.9M M&O levy expires in June 2013.
The school board set this levy amount at a special meeting Tuesday night. The district will now begin a public information campaign for the community to learn more about the upcoming levy and how local taxpayer support of public schools has become essential to maintaining the district’s basic education needs no longer supported by state funding.
District administrators and school board members are seeking out opportunities to present to community groups and organizations. If you belong to a group or organization that would like to have the district come present information on the upcoming M&O levy and other current district topics, please contact info@cdaschools.org.
One of the first opportunities for district officials to have community dialogue about the upcoming M&O Levy will be Wednesday, January 30th. The Coeur d’Alene Education Partnership has invited school district administrators to come speak at a community forum held from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. in the community room of the CdA Library. The public is welcome to attend.
