Task:
Your task is to:
 
  1. Find three famous people who share your birthday. (Use the web links below to help you.)
    1. one famous person of historical significance
    2. one famous person from entertainment
    3. one famous person of your choice
  2. Gather information about the famous people using the Gathering Birthday Buddies Information worksheet below.
  3. Prepare your presentation with information about the famous people using Microsoft PowerPoint.
  4. Present your project to the class.

Guidelines for gathering information:

Download the Gathering Birthday Buddies Information worksheet. (Right-click on the file. Click Save to save the document to your P: drive. Then, open the file to work on the worksheet.)

Complete the entire worksheet before you begin making your PowerPoint presentation.

 

Guidelines for Presentation;

  1. Use PowerPoint. You may use a template or create from layout designs. Template or background designs must be appropriate to the content. This is a birthday presentation.
    1. name the file youtinitials-bbuds
    2. save it in your P drive
  2. Apply the basic elements of multimedia design as discussed in class.
  3. Title slide requirements:
    1. a clever title
    2. the author (i.e. you) of the project
  4. Slide about you:
    1. your picture (use the class digital camera)
    2. name
    3. birth date
    4. birth place
  5. Content slides Requirements:
    1. a minimum of one slide (no more than two slides) for each famous person
    2. include the first and last name of each famous person
    3. include place, day and year of birth
    4. include facts about this person from your gathering information worksheet
  6. Include a picture of each famous person.
    1. site the source of the pictures in your reference page
    2. pictures must be high quality, not pixilated
  7. Clipart requirements:
    1. Include one clipart item on the Master Slide.
    2. On the other slides, include clipart that enhances the presentation.
  8. Special effects requirements:
    1. be consistent with slide transitions
    2. be conservative when using animation
    3. must enhance the slide show, not distract from it.
    4. Include appropriate sound. For example, Happy Birthday song.
    5. sounds or music should not be distracting from the presentation.
    6. reference the author of the music, the name of the song, and the name of the CD in your reference page
    7. site the source of sounds if taken from some other source than Microsoft in your reference page
  9. Use Notes Page to type your speech for your presentation.
  10. Concluding slide requirements:
    1. summarize the important content
  11. Reference slide requirements:
    1. cite content sources
    2. cite picture sources
    3. cite music sources
    4. Google is not a source - do not reference it
    5. Tip: play music in the background of this slide
  12. Rehearse your presentation to ensure everything works properly.
  13. Present to the class:
    1. know your material
    2. maintains eye contact with the audience (look at the audience— do not read the presentation)
    3. speak clearly and modulate your voice
    4. stand up straight; hands at side
    5. at the conclusion check for understanding by asking questions or oral quiz, etc.
    6. utilize allotted time effectively (no more than five minutes)
  14. Give your teacher an electronic copy of your presentation.

Project is worth 50 points. Please put both time and effort into presenting a quality presentation to the class.
