General Information:  Canfield Middle School's Parent Teacher Association (PTA) is a non-partisan organization for the benefit of the students, staff and parents of Canfield Middle School (CMS). We represent the parents of CMS students. We raise money for school projects as deemed appropriate by CMS administration and CMS PTA. We assist teachers and staff when requested or necessary. We direct information to the appropriate individuals, both parents and staff. We are a link between school and the community.

PTA meets each month on 1st Thursday of each month, in the Media Center, 12:00 noon until 1:00 p.m. on these dates:  

Please come! We can always use your help as a volunteer or chairperson for: 

Wreath Fundraiser: Fresh evergreen wreaths, locally made, ordered through the school newsletter, delivered to school the first week of December. We need help to get wreaths to school and to hand them out.  back to table

Teacher/Staff Appreciation: Goodies or crafts to say thank you to staff (approximately 75 people) 4 - 6 times during the year. We need ideas, people to cook or create, and people to distribute to staff mailboxes.  back to table

Class Act/Pays to Get A's: Programs recognizing students for accomplishments, academic and civic. We procure and distribute rewards: Class Act - each month. Pays to Get A's - once each semester.  back to table

Student Council Project: Carnation sale for February.  We provide volunteers to address and sort flowers.  back to table

8th grade Cruise: CMS administration and PVO arrange the cruise, entertainment, procure raffle prizes.  back to table

Mini-Grants to Teachers: We provide grant opportunities up to $150.00 each to teachers to provide extras curriculum materials for their classrooms.  back to table

Newsletter: PTA Publisher types submitted articles for the monthly school newsletter and assists in labeling and mailing.  back to table

PTO Alliance: All school district monthly meetings, 3rd Wednesday each month at noon in the Central office.  We send a school PTA representative, but any parent is welcome to attend.  back to table

T-Shirts: Samples of T-Shirts, sweatshirts, duffel bags, caps, etc. are available at registration; order forms will be available during the year.  back to table

Literacy Program: Donate an hour per week during the school day to help children with reading.  back to table

Library volunteers: Dewey Decimal, organized people, please contact Librarian, Karen Estes.  back to table

Fall Registration: PTA volunteers assist CMS staff as needed with the registration process.  back to table

Drug Education Advisory Council: PTA representative attends these meetings dedicated to education and prevention of drugs and related problems.  back to table

Advanced Learning Program:  Volunteers help provide enrichment opportunities for our students.  ie.  Geography Bee, Math Counts, Spelling Bee, etc.  back to table

Open House:  PTA volunteers assist with providing information about PTA, its volunteer opportunities and orders of Canfield logo t-shirts, sweatshirts, duffel bags, caps, etc.  back to table
