The study of current events and prudent stock investing is emphasized in Consumer Science. Students select and graph chosen stocks throughout the semester. They learn how to read the stock pages in the newspaper, sell and purchase stocks on the internet, and understand the concept of supply and demand.

Current events are followed weekly. Local, state, national and international issues are studied and discussed within class. Students learn to share ideas, and develop and defend their opinions on specific issues. Tracking of stocks is done daily.
