AUTHOR OF THE MONTH:  MIKE LUPICA

 

Mike Lupica is the author of books such as Miracle on 49th St., Heat, Travel Team, and Summer Ball.  Besides writing great sports fiction books for teens, he has also written several biographies on well-known sports figures.  His "other" job is as a sports columnist for the New York Daily News.  He lives in New Canaan, Connecticut.

          One way to get an idea for a good book to read is to get recommendations from your friends, teachers,
          librarians, and parents.  You may want to recommend a book of your own on the Media Center bulletin
          board.  Just sign up with Mrs. Estes or Mrs. Heffter.

ALA Great Sites for Kids  Discover all  kinds of information, including books, authors, illustrators, children's book awards, and even books written by kids on this site from American Library Association.

Harry Potter Home Page  Read about the Harry Potter books, play a Harry Potter trivia game, and listen to the correct pronunciation of some difficult words in the stories.

Redwall Series Home Page  Explore a site map of the Redwall series, send an e-mail to Brian Jacques, and find out the suggested order in which to read the books.

Chronicles of Narnia  Learn about Susan, Lucy, Peter, and Edmund, as well as the history of Narnia and details on the plans for the new movie.

Book Spot  Everything you wanted to know (and more!) about books and authors.  Check out the recommended reading lists for middle school students or join an online book club.

KidsReads  A great source of book reviews, series by your favorite authors, and a book club you can join.
