Questions

The typical Bridge student will be a junior or senior leaving the traditional high school for a variety of reasons:

  • Not finishing high school by the end of their senior year .
  • Behind in credits that are required by the end of their senior year .
  • Returning to school to graduate after dropping out during their junior or senior year.,
  • Referred to the school by their high school counselor for various reasons.
  • Needs a shorter school day because of scheduling conflicts.
  • Health issues that require a shorter day.

Second semester Juniors and Seniors can enroll at the Bridge Academy. A student needs at least 25 credits to start at the school.

Students who have dropped out of school in their second semester of their junior year or during their senior year are encouraged to apply. We also encourage seniors who have not completed all of their credits by the end of their senior year to come back and finish up those credits. Students must complete all credits before their 21st birthday. Admission is free of charge for Idaho residents.

Schedule

The school day will consist of one, three-hour block session. The first block is from 8-11 a.m., 2nd block from 11-2, 3rd from 2-5 p.m., and the 4th from 5-7:30 p.m. Students will be assigned the most appropriate time block for their needs and availability.

School will be held Monday through Thursday with makeup time on Fridays from 8 -11. Students are required to attend school at least twelve hours a week.  They must prearrange additional time, with the exception of Friday, when all are welcome.

Students will also be required to do at least two elective classes outside of the classroom per semester. We offer a variety of take-home packets that a student can sign up for. Students can also receive work credit for 150 hours of work or volunteer credit for 70 hours of volunteer work.

All Bridge students are required to do a “Senior Summit”. The Senior summit is designed to help students make adult decisions affecting post-graduation training and education. Students will interview two adults who have experience in a field of work the student is considering. They will also make a monthly budget, do some community volunteer work, and complete an online career survey to determine careers that may fit their unique talents and personalities.
