Welcome to Third Grade.
We have high expectations for our third grade students at
Borah School.
Reading:
We ability group our students into four different classes called
"Switch". In Switch we work on reading skills, strategies,
fluency and comprehension. We incorporate Accelerated Reader and the
Boot-it Program, as tools, to help the students become successful readers.
Math:
Our Scott-Foresman program includes a wide variety of topics. The topics
include addition, subtraction, place value, estimation, measurement, problem
solving, multiplication, division and fractions.
Science:
Our curriculum includes the study of recycling to help improve our environment.
Our second semester includes an in depth study of weather incorporating
technology.
Social
Studies:
The topics include the Responsibilities and Rights of being a U.S.
citizen. It also includes local, state and national government. We
also teach a Geography unit where students learn mapping skills, continents,
oceans and the states that surround Idaho.
We are excited about the progress our
third grade students will make throughout the year.
