Teachers:
Katie Harris,
Merrit Mitchell, Jan Whitcomb,
Welcome to Kindergarten, where learning is
fun. Each child enters Kindergarten with different strengths and will
progress at a different pace. Our goal is to help the children learn as
much as possible in a meaningful and enjoyable way.
We offer two programs for our Kindergarten students.
One is an all day Kindergarten. This involves a small group of students who need
extra help in reading readiness skills. The students are enrolled in morning
Kindergarten. They stay for lunch and then work with Miss Harris in
the afternoon on a variety of literacy skills.
We created this page
to share with you what is happening in the Kindergarten rooms at Borah.
Kindergartners are busy learning:
Language
Arts
(letters and sounds, rhyming, guided reading,
printing letters and writing)
Math
(calendar, counting, patterns, graphing, understanding numbers)
Units
of Study (Social Studies, Science, Health)
Technology
(keyboarding, mouse skills, Waterford Reading Program)
Most of the kindergarten learning is done through
themes that integrate District 271's curriculum for Kindergarten.
