Personal Safety The counselors teach personal safety to each class here at Borah. The personal safety lessons are age appropriate, and progressive – building on previous lessons. Our district has an adopted curriculum entitled “Talking About Touching” which provides the foundation for our personal safety lessons. The lessons are prevention focused. We practice and prepare to keep ourselves safe. Parents are always invited and welcomed to attend class for this lesson. We also encourage you to discuss this lesson with your kids and to build on it with your own family safety rules.

Community Services and Activities Bigs in Schools We have a partnership with Big Brothers, Big Sisters, North Idaho (BBBSNI), to have “Bigs in Schools” at Borah. This program matches community volunteers with a Borah student who needs that extra little bit of attention, modeling, encouragement, or positive adult attention. Volunteers are screened by BBBSNI the same way that BBBS community program volunteers are screened, but the “Bigs in Schools” program only requires that volunteers contribute one hour a week. Volunteer “Bigs” typically come to school to share a lunch and recess with their “little.” Becoming A Love and Logic Parent An excellent program to help you be the excellent parent that you envision: calm and resourceful, with effective boundaries. Love and Logic teaches how to become the supportive consultant that helps kids make good choices – and learn from those choices. Free Love and Logic classes are sometimes available in CDA through ICARE and a partnership with CDA School District.
