PTA

The Parent Teacher Association is dedicated to promoting and supporting the students, staff and curriculum at Borah Elementary School. Their goals are to enrich the educational experience for the students and offer opportunities for parents to become involved in the education of our youth. In order to succeed we need your help, please consider attending the meetings held once a month, volunteer to be one of our officers or to work on a committee. Currently we have a great need for parents who are willing to fill PTA officer positions.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS ABOUT P.T.A.

What is P.T.A.?
PTA stands for Parent Teacher Association. Borah PTA meets once a month, usually the second Thursday of each month at 6:45pm in the school library. Besides having a great time visiting with other Borah parents and teachers, we discuss what has happened in the school over the past month and what is going to happen in the next month. We discuss ways to raise money and how to spend the money in the most efficient and appropriate manner. We also open the floor for discussion at each meeting.

Who comes to a P.T.A. meeting?
The Principal, Borah teachers, the PTA Board, and all Borah parents are invited to attend. Children are also welcome. We offer free babysitting at every meeting.

When and where are the meetings?
Typically the meetings are held the second Thursday of each month at 6:45 pm in the school library.

Who is on the P.T.A. Board?
The P.T.A. Board is made up of family members that are willing to volunteer their time. For the 2007-2008 school year we are looking for parents who would be willing to hold an office or serve on a committee. If you are interested contact the school or Mr. Shamberg.

What types of events does the P.T.A. plan to support in 2007-2008?

Ice Cream Social/Open House Night - Thursday, September 20, 2007 -- 6:30 - 7:30 p.m.
This is a special night where Dad' s Club serves Ice Cream with all the toppings to the parents, students and teachers.

Box Tops/Soup Labels Contest - January through March
Students save cereal box tops and soup labels. The class with the most box tops and soup labels wins a special prize. So start saving!

American Lemonade Stand - Kick off September 26, 2007
A small catalog fundraiser, which includes jewelry, chocolates, and lots of gift ideas for Easter.
