Meet Hazel Bauman Hazel Bauman assumed the superintendent position on July 1, 2008, after a transition period that began in September 2007 when Harry Amend announced plans for retirement. Ms. Bauman has 37 years of experience in public and higher education, including the past seven years as assistant superintendent. In years prior, she served as director of curriculum and instruction, director of elementary education, and curriculum director.

Meet Matthew Handelman  Matt Handelman joined Coeur d'Alene Public Schools on July 1, 2010 as Associate Superintendent of Teaching and Learning after 22 years as an educator, including 14 years as a principal in Spokane, Seattle and Edmonds, WA. Matt oversees the alignment of curriculum, instruction and assessment (preK-12) to help ensure a quality education for all Coeur d'Alene Public School students.

Meet Rosie Astorquia Rosie Astorquia assumed the position of Director of Secondary Education on July 1, 2006  She is also the principal of Project CDA/Bridge Academy . She has 37 years in education as a teacher, middle school and high school administrator and district curriculum director. In her new position, she will supervise all secondary schools in the District and coordinate the District's secondary remediation programs.

Meet Jean Bengfort  Jean Bengfort joined the District in August of 2001, bringing technology integration expertise from prior school district positions in Iowa. As Director of Technology, she oversees the technical services staff and budget, as well as the planning and implementation of technology into the curriculum.

Meet Frances Huffman Frances Huffman is the new Director of Special Services. Previously, she had served as Title 1 director and assistant director of special education. In prior years, she was assistant principal and speech language pathologist at Skyway Elementary School. She came to this District with 25 years experience in special education in eastern Idaho.
